Brand Profile: Retro Campaigns

Retro Campaigns logo

Retro Campaigns was founded in January 2008, out of Los Angeles, CA. The company uses their tee designs to recall memorable campaigns and moments from America’s political history, such as Robert Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Vietnam War draft opposition, and Adlai Stevenson’s famous “hole in the shoe” photo.

Retro Campaigns uses high-quality shirts (currently American Apparel), but they plan to have to a new line shortly which will be printed on Alternative Apparel’s popular “destroyed” t-shirts in vintage-type styles (such as heathered poly/cotton ringers and thin cotton blanks).

As a brand, Retro Campaign’s goal is to merge American history and fashion, and to make history “cool” or at least interesting, especially to the younger generations.

“America has an incredibly rich history, particularly as it relates to politics; and I think if it was made more accessible and interesting, people would enjoy learning about it and perhaps be more interested in participating in politics themselves.”
