When the first t-shirts launched, we were still working on the concept of the clothing line. We wanted to come up with something that people would want to be a part of. So we gave birth the City Raised Group as a way to bring the urban culture together. CRG is basically everyone who supports us in any way possible. To be a part of CRG means that you encourage the rise of a movement that defines the fashion based styles that are commonly found in an urban setting.

The concept of our clothing line generalizes the idea of being raised in an urban area and defines a group of individuals who embrace style and city fashion. To be urban-natured means to hold certain qualities that are common in an urban area and describes an individual as a “city kid” anywhere where they are presented. Urban Natured Clothing is born to reestablish the meaning of urban culture and cure those suffering from dead fashion.

My name is Nick Jarrett and I am currently at Fresno State majoring in graphic design, working my way to achieve a BFA. Designing my own art through pen and paper and through computers has been my whole life. Creating my own clothing company was an idea that has floated around in my mind for quite some time. I’ve tried multiple times making shirt designs but none of them stuck. I also tried making companies with friends but it never worked out until…

One day I was sitting around with my girlfriend, Bri Jensen, and it hit me that it had to be done. She gave me the idea for an ice cream cone as the main logo. It needed something to make it stand out, so I thought about the shirts I wear and most of them are hardcore band shirts I got at shows, so I wanted to appeal to the audience that likes hardcore music. A major symbol for hardcore is an “X”. My idea for the “X” is that it is meant to have meaning to the person who wears the shirt. Some relate it to being straight edge or what you had on your hand at shows. For whatever reason, it will always represent your enjoyment in life.

To us at ISC, we love the hardcore community. This brand was created for those that pick up the guy who falls in the pit and for those that help the girl who wants to crowd surf. We go to shows to enjoy ourselves.
We also love the paintball community. This brand was created for those that have passion to win but have fun at the same time. The paintball community is like a family and we support that bond of teamwork.

Every item in our collection is inspired by a dream rooted in retro, pop and street culture. We are inspired by minimalism and typography. All of our shirts from the 2010 fall release are one ink prints, using water-based/discharged inks. To top it off they are printed on American Apparel giving it that super soft feel and fitted look with cutomized printed tags, all manufactured and printed in USA. I’ve found your site as a great resource for the good stuff out there with some quality pointers and thought you may be interested in what’s going on over at Socialfabrik.

I’d in particular like to direct you to our new tees which feature ‘The Thug’, an iconic figure from the NYPD shooting galleries that every NYPD officer has shot at since the early 1960′s. We’ve all seen him in the movies & those cop shows, now he’s walking the streets!

Socialfabrik is still a fledgling brand but once we get going the idea is that the store will be an art gallery for limited edition art prints and the t-shirts will be the canvas.

It all started from my love of art and being creative, I have always spent lots of money on my clothing, and thought that I wanted to be apart of a Multi-Billion dollar industry myself.

Describe your philosophy about the art of fashion

Clothing is a necessity, Everyone has to wear clothing, But today we have options to wear different types of clothing…Clothing is a great form of art and expresses every ones creative side. I believe it’s hard to deny a good fashion design, That’s why I am very focused on designing the best art for my brand as possible.
What about fashion as a business?

The fashion Industry is a Multi-billion dollar a year industry

I think it’s a wonderful industry to be involved in because I was once told that if you can create a product that there is a necessity for in the world, and if you’re good at it….with persistence, there is a possible chance that you can be very successful.

What skills do you need to be a fashion designer?

The fashion industry is 90% business & 10% design. Knowing how to run and maintain a business, from day to day transactions, customer service to accounting –Most importantly having passion for what you do will get your over the bumps in the road, without passion it’s very easy to just give up.

What advice do you have for a young woman/man who wants to be a fashion designer?

Persistence, Make sure you have a passion to be a fashion designer, because it takes time and many mistakes to see some success as a fashion designer. Work for other fashion houses or designers, because you’ll make mistakes on someone else’s money, not yours.

What inspires your designs?

Music, Art, different cultures…most of all, everywhere I look, I get inspired by something or someone.

What was your inspiration to start your clothing line?

I was always really good at art and after I took a marketing class, and in that class I had a project, the project required us to make a product as if it were a real product in the market.
It inspired me to proceed with starting my own line…but most of all it would allow me to be creatively artistic everyday, and make a very nice amount of money that could finance everything I’ve ever wanted in life….with a lot of hard work and perseverance , my chances would be very great.

When did you start designing your line?

2002 that’s when I came up with my logo, But my designs changed and evolved over the years.

What is your target demographic?

I am not really targeting any specific demographic – because my brand is open to all sorts of groups or cultures, such as the Premium groups, to the street culture and everything in between.
Where can our readers find your clothing line?

What is your focus and plan for the urban fashion world of Salt Lake City?

My goal is to bring World Wide attention to our Brand and the more and more our Brand gets out there, it will open people’s eyes to the fact that it doesn’t matter where you’re from to be a very successful clothing designer and to have a successful clothing company. Maybe one day someone from here can say that Kep Niles Clothing paved the way for us to make a statement world wide.

The inspiration for ETC has its roots in European culture. Much of the design work comes from the time Rosco spent living in Germany. The clothing is based on European style, art, philosophy, and books. All of his design work is layered with meaning and depth. We look at our style of clothing as being a constant evolution. We currently sell graphic t-shirts but there is great diversity within that style. The STATEMENTS line incorporates bold messages and features stylish typography meant to catch your eye and make a statement. The TRUTH line is a clash between geometric shapes and organic lines to represent a more forward looking style. The CURRENCY line is due out in three weeks around Oct 25th and features layered, ambiguous word plays based on world currencies as a follow-up to STATEMENTS.
