Brooklyn-based design firm, nopooh, is launching its first limited edition, tee shirt collection, “Noir Spring 2009”. Influenced by the neo-noir aesthetic, this collection, comprised of six designs, channels a sense of mystery and foreboding. These shirts redefine the standard vocabulary of spring with non-traditional colors and images- conveying a feeling of ambiguity, as opposed to unbridled optimism.

The tee shirt, ‘Intruder’, for example, done in black, white and pixilated grey shadow, is reminiscent of a frame from a David Lynch film or a panel from a Frank Miller (Sin City) graphic novel. Though the collection uniformly employs neo-noir imagery, each shirt stands on its own as an independent design.

nopooh is the collaborative work of artist, Rob Tanner, and fashion photographer, Mark Babushkin. Launched in September 2008, nopooh designs individually hand-screened tee shirts featuring bold, graphic images. Avoiding partisan issue and humor driven themes, Rob & Mark’s designs embrace irony and ambiguity with a pop sensibility. nopooh’s shirts are intended to visually entice the eye and engage the mind.

nopooh’s tee-shirt line and limited edition collection, “Noir Spring 2009”, are available online in both men and women’s styles at http://www.nopooh.com/.
